Dragonfly Day

Hunting for Dragonflies!

Posted: Monday 2 August, 2010

On 17th July, two groups of enthusiastic visitors enjoyed a short talk at the Wood, on Dragonflies and their habitats given by Jonathan Willet, Biodiversity Officer for Highland Council.

We then went on a walk round the wood, looking for dragonflies and damselflies.  The weather wasn't so kind to us this year, and there weren't many dragonflies active due to the dull conditions.  However, Jonathan took us on a pool search and by the end of the day we were able to identify several species from their larvae.

It was a good day out, and enjoyed by all, especially the children who had a great time exploring the different types of habitat in the Wood.
