Dragonfly Day Success

Two groups of enthusiastic visitors enjoyed a short talk at the Wood, on Dragonflies and their habitats given by Jonathan Willet, Biodiversity Officer for Highland Council.
We then went on a walk round the wood, looking for dragonflies and damselflies. The weather stayed reasonably dry most of the time - unlike the forecast - and we found several species of Darters and Hawkers in evidence.
The Wood has several areas where the habitat is ideal for these insects, and during the summer months there are many to be seen.
The two sessions were both well attended, and we hope to run this event again next summer, when the dragonflies are out in force again.
