Laide Wood Welcomes SSE

Scottish and Southern Energy visit Laide Wood

Posted: Saturday 8 September, 2012

A team from Scottish and Southern Energy came to help out with some of the heavy work at Laide Wood on 30th August.   SSE Liaison Officer, Lindsay Matheson (pictured with the crew) arranged for a mechanical digger, and a team complete with chainsaws and logging gear, to spend the day working in the Wood.

Several large trees in the plantation by the path on the way down to the duck race bridge were hanging dangerously, and these were cleared.  A new ramp was built for access to the north car park, with several bridges constructed so that we can now drive the ATV through from the main car park.  The path through to the cascade has now been improved with some additional sections of boardwalk.

Our sincerest thanks to Scottish and Southern Energy for their hard work - hope to see you in the Wood again soon!
